The Ratings Plugin

Ratings is a Manila plug-in to allow editors and members to add polls to messages and stories in the discussion group of a Manila website. The users vote using a form created by a macro called ratingsMacros.rateMe. Eight other macros can be used to present the voting returns in graphical and tabular ways.

The libGD package is used to do the graphical tasks, and must be installed on your server. The libGD package can be obtained here.

The frontierMath package is also used, and must be installed on your server. The frontierMath package can be obtained here.

Main features.

• Define and manage polls - a question with a range of answers
• Each poll is owned and maintained by a single member of the Manila website.
• A controlpanel interface allows the server administrator to control whether access to the plugin is retsricted to Managing editors or to members.
• Polls can imported using RPC, from any server where ratings plugin is installed and rpchandlers are allowed.
• add each "poll" to any discussion group message using a macro.
• Each message can be rated in multiple ways - multi-dimensional polling
• graphical and tabular presentation of results with 8 special macros.
• Help text is built into each page, the intention is that most documentation is inline and amenable to localisation.
